Oswin Tickler is a designer, educator, coder and artist combining creative processes to build approaches/systems that allow for chance as a means of exploring tension between order and chaos.
Through introducing an element of randomness the outcome remains uncertain until the last, providing a sense of surprise and ambiguity that invites the viewer to form their own response.
These experimental approaches have led me to develop workshops and even industry-leading software in the form of HP Spark which combines creative code and variable digital print technologies.
Teaching is a central part of my practice and I have wide ranging experience teaching in both the UK and US at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I’m currently Senior Lecturer in Magazine and Book design and production at London College of Communication, I also teach on a number of design and visual communication courses across the University of the Arts London and beyond.
I also devise and run workshops independently and for other universities, agencies, and arts organisations.
More >I have spoken internationally at conferences and symposiums on areas of design, publishing, education, research and personal practice.
